If you have been spending a lot of time playing hockey, anywhere from ten to twenty hours, then you must make sure that during your off time you sit down and do some basic maintenance on your skates. There are three reasons that this is a good idea all of which are important for you to consider. If you want your inline hockey skate to last then maintain it to keep up performance, keep yourself safe and prevent additional costs when things go wrong.

If you do not regularly oil the bearings on your inline hockey skate you’ll find it twice as hard to keep up with your teammates, you just won’t be able to get the same speed the rest of the players are showing. This can greatly impeded your performance during a game. This will not only damage your game, but you may find that you won’t get as much time to play or that your teammates look for someone faster to replace you.

What do you think would happen if one of the axle bolts fell out of the inline hockey skate you were wearing? This could happen if you didn’t regularly check to make sure that they were tightened properly. If the bolt fell out this would make the wheel seize and could result in you falling head over heels onto the ground. You could hurt yourself in this unexpected fall.

The final reason to be sure you carefully check over each inline hockey skate to maintain there workability is quite simply a money issue. If you regularly clean, oil and adjust your skates you will not have to spend money on costly repairs like replacing wheels.

The one essential to the upkeep of your inline hockey skate is the skate tool. This is a three in one tool that has everything you need to take your skates apart to clean and oil them. It should have an allen wrench, a bearing tool and a screwdriver head. With this you can do any of the maintenance you need to keep yourself skating hard, fast and safe.
