Tips on Purchasing the Roller Hockey Skate

Making the change from playing ice hockey to roller hockey is no small feat. The first step will be to find the right roller hockey skate. Although this means buying what is generally called rollerblades. When you’re ready to make this purchase you must be certain to make it clear to the salesperson the reason you want to buy the rollerblades. That’s because there are rollerblades available that serve four different purposes and it is essential that you get the roller hockey skate, not the one for stunts or speed, by accident or because you think they look cooler.

Unlike ice hockey skates, which should be bought a size smaller then your shoe size; the roller hockey skate should be bought just like when you are purchasing a pair of shoes. You need to have enough space in the top to be able to wriggle your toes. But like ice skates, you’ll want to be certain that the skate is not only comfortable but that it offers enough support for your ankles. Be sure to wear, or bring, socks that will be the same thickness as what you expect to wear when playing roller hockey. That will be an important size consideration. It would be unfortunate if you bought a nice pair of rollerblades but couldn’t wear them comfortably because you like thick socks when you play and you’d left those at home. You’re not likely to wear thin socks during a game.

When you try on them on be certain to try on the pair not just one roller hockey skate. You need to be sure they both fit comfortably. Take a moment and have a short skate around the sports store. If they won’t let you, buy your skates somewhere else. Its essential to make sure they feel right for more than just standing still.

Like good ice skates your roller hockey skate will not be cheap. But will be less expensive than many ice skates. You can expect to spend upwards of a hundred dollars but not more then two hundred to get a good pair of skates. Don’t forget, if you want to play well your skates must fit you exactly right.
